Access Google Drive in Finder

  1. Click the Finder icon to open Finder.

  1. Click Google Drive on the left side toolbar.
    • Note: The Google Drive icon might be under Favorites or Locations.
    • The icons may look different than what is shown below.
  1. You should see two folders named My Drive and Shared drives. 
    • My Drive is where your personal files should be saved. 
    • Shared drives are special folders where you can share files with a team (learn more about Shared Drives).

Troubleshooting

Problem: I do not see the Google Drive icon in Finder.

Resolution: Go to the menu bar and click the Google Drive icon. You may need to sign in. Once you do that, the Google Drive icon should appear in Finder, and you can continue the instructions above.

Problem: I do not see the Google Drive icon in.

Resolution: Click the Finder icon to open Finder (see step 1 above). In Finder, click on Applications, launch the Google Drive app, and follow the on-screen instructions. Once you do that, the Google Drive icon should appear in Finder, and you can continue the instructions above.
